State-of-the-art lighting technology illuminates the Ars Electronica Center's 5,100-m2 glass shell. The special-effects lighting featuring 40,000 light-emitting diodes (LEDs) will use significantly less electricity and have a longer useful life than the background lighting with fluorescent bulbs that had originally been planned. This LED façade lighting installation is the largest of its kind in Europe

Il abritre, le future lab , laboratoire d'innovation, sciences, art et culture. Installations interactives, simulation, geocity sont parmi qulques unes des innovations au fil du temps.

3,000 m2 of space for exhibits, 1,000 dedicated to R&D, 400 for seminars and conferences, 650 for food & beverage service and catering, and, topping it off, a 1,000-m2 plaza to accommodate open-air events. The new Ars Electronica Center makes an impressive statement both stylistically and functionally. It's a facility that successfully blends content mediation strengths refined over decades with explosive themes of critical importance to our future.

At the very outset of the 21st century, it's becoming increasingly clear that we have entered a new age here on Earth: the Anthropocene. An age definitively characterized by humankind's massive impact on our physical surroundings. An age whose most emblematic manifestations have been population explosion, climate change, the poisoning of the environment and our venturing into outer space. Heretofore. But now, it's not only the environment that we're changing. It's the fundamentals of life itself-the fundamentals of our own life-that are being subjected to humankind's will to custom-design our world.
